This 1976 Mercedes 450 SL Roadster has been in heated storage for several years and hardly driven. We have too many cars and would like to see this one go to a good home. It is a solid car that drives beautifully but may need a little TLC. 

The body is pretty much rust-free except inside the trunk. This was noticed when we pulled the fuel tank to clean it. It is not normally visible and we treated the area with rust-resistant pant when we re-installed the tank. The paint, chrome and glass on the body are all very good and the interior is in nice shape. The trunk emblem says “560” which is incorrect. It has custom Nardi Wheels. 

The 4.5 Liter overhead-cam v8 runs nicely with Bosch Mechanical fuel injection. A new fuel pump was installed recently and the fuel lines and filter were cleaned and flushed when we cleaned the fuel tank. The 3-speed automatic transmission works smoothly. The 4-wheel independent suspension appears tight and disc brakes all around stop the car nicely. 

The classic Mercedes looks good with the removable “Pagoda” top on, and even better as a roadster with the top off. Although over 30 years old, this Mercedes seems more modern in styling and performance than other cars of that era. We are presently tinkering with the lights and power windows which need some work-typical of cars that aren’t being driven enough. This one needs a new owner to appreciate and care for it.
